"I became a dog training instructor because of my life-long love of dogs. In the past I trained the traditional way with choke and prong collars but was always searching for a more positive method. Six years ago I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to meet someone who taught
me clicker training. Since then it's the only technique I use to train my own dogs and instruct my clients."
Bonnie is the proud caretaker of five (5) dogs. An Akita, Chianti, a Border Collie, Zech, JD, a Rough Collie, Sundance, a rescue Greyhound, and Bogie, a Border Collie, GSD mix. She also does doggie day care for Solomon a five (5) month old Mastiff/Lab mix.
Bonnie owned and operated a dog training school in Michigan for 3 years. In the summer of 1996 she opened "Dog Training by Bonnie" in Northwest Tucson, AZ. Since 1994 she's worked for Handi-Dogs, Inc., a service dog training organization, as volunteer, volunteer coordinator, and instructor.
She attended Pima Medical Institute and studied to become a veterinarian
assistant. While volunteering for Handi-Dogs she realized she had found a
career she loved. She is a Member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers).
"Too many dogs end up at shelters, are put in the back yard to spend their
lives, or euthanized because their caretakers don't know how to manage them.
My goal is to prevent these things by giving my clients the resources they
need to deal with any problem(s) they may have with their canine companions."
