Departments	New Champion Crowned at Crufts Staff Report For the first time ever, a Basenji took the highly coveted Best in Show title on May 28 at Crufts dog show. Beating out approximately 20,000 other dogs for the championship, Jethard Cidevant, owned by Paul Singleton of Colchester, Essex, made his mark for the breed in the 100-plus year-old show. Delayed since March due to fears of spreading the dreaded foot and mouth disease, this year's event marked the first time ever that foreign dogs were allowed to compete for the title.
